Since its implementation in 1994, The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has greatly benefited the United States through strong job growth, higher wages and low consumer prices, and a commanding agricultural and energy export economy that has upheld America’s independence. NAFTA reduced costly tariffs that hurt American consumers and removed barriers that prohibited American-made goods from crossing into Mexico and Canada. NAFTA has accrued substantial economic benefits for America’s working class with job creation in the agriculture and manufacturing sector, provided access to affordable products and food, and lower energy bills due to America’s energy independence and decreased reliance on foreign oil. We support a modernized NAFTA that preserves existing benefits while meeting America’s evolving needs. Efforts to improve NAFTA for the 21st Century should be pursued by policymakers to ensure fair and balanced trade with our partners that continue to benefit American exporters, consumers and helps create and grow American jobs.

Mobilizing a unique coalition of our industry and supporters of President Trump and Republican Governors, Senators and Members of Congress will be critical to success of the negotiations.
